Show some love!! Foster.

Filed under: dogs, rescue dog, shelter dogs — swissymouse @ 4:44 pm
The Mutt Scouts has lots of great dogs available for adoption right now…and there’s a bunch more coming in this week.
The problem we are having is there is not enough foster homes.
When dogs are rescued they need to learn about things like love and boundaries. That is where the foster home comes in.
Rescue would not be possible without foster homes. They make the animal rescue world go round.
I’ve basically fostered at least 3 dogs at a time for over 5 years on top of my own  jumble o’ mutts. Yup, that’s a hell of a lot of dogs.

But I think of all those dogs that have come and go. Many came from horrendous circumstances of abuse, neglect, pain and suffering. Many would have died only knowing that. Fostering gives them the best gift any living thing could ask for.

And that makes my heart feel good.

Here is ajust a few of the dogs I’ve fostered.

Great dogs for you.

Filed under: Uncategorized — swissymouse @ 8:27 am
We just happened to exit the 110 freeway right next to North Central Animal Shelter and I just happened to have my camera- so I had to stop – real quick.
Of course I fell in love with tons and tons of them. Lane said aloud- “there are so many beautiful animals why aren’t people clammering to get them out.”
Oh how I just wish.
Here is my most favorite…
Young girl- only 33 pounds- obviously neglected – super shy. But oh so special…just look at her!!

Take what you got

It is a little tough to go from the unspoiled beauty of South Lake Tahoe to the Industrial District of downtown Los Angeles. I can’t even think of two more OPPOSITE places. But I fully believe in making the best of what you have. Plus the dogs always need to get their yaya’s out. So we have been taking some of them to the beach every week. I mean think of how many people don’t get to go to the beach? They might live in the beautiful country but only the coastal kids get to hang at the ocean.

Here are photos from our trip to Huntington Beach yesterday

Pony lost her collar some time during the mayhem.

Nannette & Hersey

Filed under: Uncategorized — swissymouse @ 5:20 am

I went to the North Central Animal Shelter and there were two ladies there I thought you should meet.

Nannette A0979352 Female /1 year old/ 54 pounds

Nannette was found wandering alone in Griffith Park. A park ranger brought her over to the shelter in hopes that there may be a family looking for her.

She shares a kennel with Hersey below and a very grumpy black dog. Nannette and Hersey try not to get in Grumpy dogs way.

Hersey 0977297 Spayed Female/ 12 years old/ 47 pounds

“Too Many” was the reason Hersey (Hershey?) was left at the shelter. She has been here for a few weeks and she is really not enjoying her stay. She is a very wise and kind dog that would really be no trouble at all.

Please email this post to anyone you know that may be interested in one of these fabulous gals so that they may find the great homes they deserve.

It’s the never ending story

This wall is right around the corner from my house

Cassius King of The Bulls Forever

Cashus King of The Bulls Forever

.

I tried to search for info on it online but could not find anything. I thought you could find everything online????

So I will just believe it is a beautiful story of a boy and the love for his dog like “Where the Red Fern Grows” unless someone tells me otherwise…

We have got some visitors staying with us this week.

This is Tallulah, whom we’ve been affectionately calling Kajagoogoo

and Sony’s here!!

They are all very well-behaved except that Tallulah aka Kajagoogoo likes to stare up at her bag of dogfood and bark. You would think that was because she is hungry but she does it when she has a full plate of food in front of her. I’m still trying to figure out what she is trying to say.

..we’re back and forth and back and forth.  Back in L.A now.

I think we broke the world record we fit EIGHT dogs in this cab for the 8 hour drive back from South Lake Tahoe.

We have been for a while…Did not get my computer set back up until last week.  Been too worried about whether me and the rest of the fam were going to be living on the streets or not.  There was a few days we had to sleep in our car!  It is no easy feat to find a place to live with a big gaggle of dogs and really bad credit!  But phew we made it!

Thanks in a large part to some pretty great people that helped us out  Jf, Judith, Rosey, Ruth, Michelle….kind and generous people.

The photos are of the first week we were back…I love the one of Shambles- it is like a creepy ghost photo and actually it was taken in a really old house that may very well be haunted.

I’ve been busy getting ready to move back to L.A so i’ve not been able to update in a long while. This update is especially for Terrah because she wonders if i’ve gone missing and I know she faithfully checks my blog.

I had a really fun week visiting Los Angeles.

I had so much fun with all my friends-who are all super talented ladies

Most of the photos I took in L.A were of Mutt Scouts dogs
Jf & I visited Sonya in her home and Lisel & Birdie in their home
I’ll be updating The Mutt Scouts blog with photos http://themuttscouts.wordpress.com/
and here’s Aurora and Johan

Aurora is currently vacationing in South Lake Tahoe and will be taking her first trip to the Truckee Marsh tomorrow.

and Johan

And then it was back to SLT and out to the Truckee Marsh- I’m spending every free moment there with the dogs before we have to go back to the concrete jungle. Tomorrow we’re hoping to get a little boat to take down the river. FUN!

While the cats away..

Filed under: dogs — swissymouse @ 2:13 pm

I was wondering what the dogs do all day now that I have to work full time..

I got my answer today when I was going through the photos on my camera.

Apparently they dress up in funny hats and take photos with my camera as I did not take this photo!!

They think they are so clever!!
